National News: After the Pahalgam terror attack, strict campaign is going on against illegal refugees across the country. In this episode, the Gujarat Police took major action on the illegal Bangladeshi settlement near Chandola lake in Ahmedabad and demolished all the slums in the area. During this time the police detained more than 800 suspects, out of which 143 have been identified as Bangladeshi citizens.
Prior to the action, the power supply of the entire area was stopped. The joint team of police and AMC (Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation) landed the township with the help of 50 JCB machines and 30 dumpers. More than 2000 policemen, Crime Branch, SOG, Cybercrime and SRP teams were also deployed in this operation.
More than 10 drones were deployed to monitor the area. During the operation, the police broke the door of Lalla Bihari's farmhouse and entered inside and it was also demolished.

Joint CP (Crime) Sharad Singhal said that a similar illegal settlement was removed near Chandola Talab, but was encroached again in a few years. The recent AMC survey found that these people had done illegal construction by putting soil on government land.
Police officials said that maintaining law and order during the action was a priority so that there is no loss of violence or life and property.
Apart from Chandola Lake, illegal settlements have also been found in areas like Shah Alam, Siyasatnagar, Nawabnagar and Phulgiri roofs. The police have indicated that similar action can be taken in these areas in the coming days.
